Train tracks around the world 🚂🛤️🛤️🛤️ I was really interested in this slice of this weeks' #TidyTuesday data, unfortunately there is not much happening 🥲

I continue to find this Elsevier equity survey puzzling - by which logic is Greece in Western Europe?

It's #TidyTuesday again! This week, we looked at #frog abundance in #australia - not a lot of frogs found in the desert 🐸🏜️

This weeks' #TidyTuesday looked at the number of #munros (type of 🏔️) in Scotland over time. I utilized my PhD here, using an alpha-stable distribution to add texture to the mountain outline: The heavy tails create a more 'rugged' profile than the Gaussian noise I used for the snow- and tree line. ❄️🌲

Some scans from the #Mojave capturing typical scenes of post-fire recovery: Burnt juvenile #JoshuaTree that is resprouting from the base. Burnt, toppled Joshua Trees and lots of grass within the burn scar. Unburned Joshua Tree woodland in the background. #canon #kodakgold #NationalParks

Revised the NYC metro stations art map after some feedback. Learned that less is often more #TidyTuesday #NYC #dataviz #maps

Had a look at what materials art works in in NYC metro stations are made for for today's #TidyTuesday 🚋🗽🏙️

Learned that the @nyu.edu Spatial Data Repository is a great resource for base maps.

Late to this week's #TidyTuesday, took me a while to wrap my head around this datasets. I learned how to add #markdown rendering to #ggplot while taking a closer look at all the colors we call brown 🪺🐿️🍂🍁

Used this week's #TidyTuesday dataset to have a go at polar coordinates in ggplot! 🌐🦠

A personal highlight for me was this supplementary figure showing the historical evolution of available meteorological stations across the Mediterranean Basin, would love to read a historian's perspective on this.

Sadly no in-person #EGU25 for me this year for obvious reasons. But, if you are interested in fire recovery, remote sensing or the Eastern Mediterranean, come to BG vPoster spot A on Wed, Apr. 30, 14:00-15:45 to chat or have a look at the poster here: meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/sessio...

Have you ever wondered how sensitive projections of boreal land surface properties are to future forest disturbance regimes? 🌲🌳 If you’re curious, catch me at my #AGU23 poster Wednesday afternoon! And please reach out if you want to discuss boreal forests, model uncertainty, SciArt or other things ✨

Beautiful Marin sunsets.

I am entering that stage of paper revision. Please let there be no final2.

I am starting to explore beautiful Marin County. No birding for me I think but most important question: Is it save to go hiking by myself? I do that at home all the time but we do not have mountain lions or bears in the Alps 🦁

Since climate twitter seems to have left the building, let’s give this a try. I’m Lucia, I use math and computer models to understand the role of plants in the climate system. If you’ve seen me around on the other app, it was probably because of my drawings.
