I’m talking here specifically about the Vuelta, not about anything else. And I don’t like it when people think I shouldn’t be allowed to share my opinion, because they think I am not historically informed.

That’s not my point, although I really do doubt its effect. Especially when I look at the protests that have taken place here in the Netherlands recently. For example, the farmers’ protests and climate change. The result is only polarization instead of unity.

I know the impact and I never Saïd protests don’t have impact. In my opinion these protests at The Vuelta were dangerous. People got through the fences. Cyclist at high speed and people at the finish line, is super dangerous.
My whole point - that’s why I reacted - is that cyclist are aloud to spea

Moreover, as a protest movement you cannot bring everything to a halt for your own gain. If every movement does that — even for important causes — the world Will be into a complete chaos.

It was certainly a successful protest. But this way of protesting is dangerous, and as a rider you’re entitled to criticize it. Allowing this form of protest could also lead to less important issues being used as reasons to stop races. I would find that very unfortunate.

Disrupting public live is not the way to protest peacefully. It doesn’t say a thing about the opinions Vingegaard has himself. We never heard complaints from riders when they protested peacefully at the sides of the road. But terrorizing races or public life is not the way to protest peacefully.
