EVGo chargers are a joke. Half don’t work, the other half are used but show up as available on the app. Cannot really build a significant EV car share without reliable charging stations 😠

Remembering my dear friendsTatiana and Maite. Who yearned to be mothers and loved their children fiercely. Some kids get dealt a really difficult hand in life. I hope they know how much their moms loved them 🙏🏻🌸

since it’s not going so well with the tariffs, Ukraine and everything else, let’s cruelly crack down on some of the most vulnerable people in society to look strong, grab some headlines and play to the base

It’s so satisfying to see your graduate students (and former students) present research findings and knock it out of the park. A reminder of why teaching is such a gratifying career #AERA25 #UCLA @uclacts.bsky.social #CGU

Six international students at UCLA had their visas revoked, likely because of student activism. Six people who were at the top of their class at home and came to this country because of its values and defense of liberties. They came to do the good, rigorous work HERE. What a betrayal by this Govt.

Hey @tedlieu.bsky.social I am trying to contact your office to ask you to fight for UCLA and higher education more generally and this is what I get when I type my UCLA address ...given the urgency, can you fix this?

This past 1/10 marked a year since the passing of my dear friend Tatiana Melguizo. I had planned so many ways to commemorate the day. In the end, I didn’t do anything. It was too sad & too soon. Then came the big February gutting of IES. A thread 🧵 (full version here: www.lsantibanez.com/thoughts)

and now a colleague told me he was told there is no longer any access to NCES data. Wow.

And I'm now seriously concerned about what they can do with Dept of Ed funding. Particularly $ for IEPs and other services (ELs), and enforcing of those IEPs and services. Yes it costs $$$$ to educate and support children with special needs yet somehow it doesn't seem like DOGE cares much.

Just got an email from #IES to pause all work as a panel reviewer. Got another one about #NIH grants affecting our university. I guess this administration feels like destroying the world's best higher education system is a good use of their time.

this seems like an all out attack on academia, universities, research centers and public schools generally. It’s only been a week.

This should not be surprising to anyone in contact with teenagers (or students generally), but seeing these numbers highlights the magnitude of the fight to capture student attention. www.pewresearch.org/internet/202...

In California, nearly 50% of all Black and Native American children had been investigated by Child Protective Services by their 18th birthday. 😲 That is an astounding number. A high proportion of reports (82%) come from mandated reporters, many of whom are Teachers. lao.ca.gov/handouts/soc... 🧵👇🏼
