As humanity has progressed through the ages, our ability to use tools to create better tools has been one of our defining features.

Every step of the way, people have been able to re-create those tools from knowledge left behind be the people that came before them.

Unfortunately, now we have […]

Today a student told me they'd never seen or read Lord of the Rings.

I've read the books when I was their age, and watched the movies, but never been back for extra watches or reads.

I still managed to give an impromptu 10 minute TED Talk about it, we were both surprised by it.

I got a new phone today.
Shelled out the extra $60 for an "oem" phone cover.

The damn thing is slipperier than an eel in grease. This is not going to protect the investment, not even a little bit.

One of my co-workers went home because they have some kind of temporary disease.

I asked them to lick my eyeball so I could have some time off, too.

They declined.

Joke's on them, I appear to be coming down with a temporary disease, also!

In 2007 Jackson Jackson released an album called "The Fire is on the Bird"

It was about many things: consumerism, climate change, trying to save the planet, and a particularly memorable one-night-stand.

Almost 20 years later, it's still relevant.

Do you need a 5.1 sound system to listen to Pink Floyd?

Well, yeah, man. It's part of the essential listening experience.

Lava Lamp, some lasers, big sound system, and a few hundred micrograms, you know, the basics.

Can someone explain to me what is happening with the #icc / #microsoft thing?

I've recently realised that most people probably cut all of their finger nails at the same time, instead of whichever two or three are the longest.

I stood up #umami analytics on the internal web portal at work for some shits and giggles.

We're a 100% windows shop. Only 30% of the hits are windows, the other 70% is people's phones.

I may have wildly misjudged how people use our portal page.

Work is in the process of migrating a bunch of stuff to "the cloud".

We have coined a term: "Cloud Minute" which is the arbitrary amount of time between making a change to a system, and that change being visible to users.

Sometimes it's a minute, sometimes it's a day.

My ADHD is really not […]

So, with the promise of quantum computers breaking #cryptography,

Does that mean I could feasily make a sha256 sum of a multi-terrabyte file, send that to someone, and they could decode the original file from the checksum?

Could that potentially become faster then sending a muti-terrabyte file?

I wonder if the #github #copilot thing can be setup to automatically close any ticket created by GitHub Copilot?

Seems like the perfect use for an AI!

If I had a dollar for every time Steve Carell was written out of a TV series via car crash, I'd have two dollars.

Not a lot, but still, weird it's happened twice.

Dear dairy,

Today I received a message from an M365 account.

The total headers were 41KB.

The email just says "It is back."

This ratio does not seem optimal.

I've been telling myself i need 10GBit LAN for a while now.

After spending most of the day shipping VM images across the network, I'm starting to listen to myself.

I've never met a person that was "in the top 5" of anything that wasn't really just "5th place"

Same with any other "in the top n".

Just say you were n'th.

No need to get semantic about it. I know what you mean. You know what you mean: Your partner is "in the top-two" people having orgasms […]

Far out, Brusell sprout.
#ausvotes voted so hard the other team's leader even lost his job.

Apparently the libs ran on the Angel's song "Am I ever gonna see your face again?"

And Australia, as always, yelled "No way, get fucked, fuck off!"

My work was one of the voting places this year.

There were no democracy snags on offer.

I am carrying shame.

When we were kids, we had a fun game we called "HELPING!" where we'd do nothing to help a sibling while they were attempting some kind of task, while loudly yelling "HELPING!" at them.

We're migrating to M365 at work.

It's the same vibes.
