today would've been my dad's 119th birthday. I'm in my mid-60s, so it still blows me away. this is a photo of him with his new 1947 Ford. he was the President of the Municipal Transportation Union in the 50s and 60s in my hometown.

i saw a red-shouldered hawk for the first time today (lifer in #birding lingo). I've seen a lot of raptors, but my first of this little-ish guy.

Merlin identified this beauty as a bald eagle (zoom in and you can identify it better). this was Aug 2024, california (~15 miles south of crescent city). I'll be honest, i didn't see this raptor when i took the picture. and further honesty, i didn't know they hunted here. #birds #birding

I've seen some amazing #birds throughout my life. my favorite is either the huge Golden Eagle in idaho in the 80s or a Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher in Texas in '13. I've decided to more actively engage in this pursuit. i saw this big guy on a walk in late Sept. turkey vultures are uncommon here.
