It is worth noting that IG offices do have orders of succession, generally to the first assistant within the office, so there are officials empowered to do the internal oversight work of the dismissed IGs.
Frost: Trump fired pretty much every inspector general in the entire country federally. And then a little bit later, we hear that Elon Musk now has access to that federal payment system with zero oversight..
