Surprising, but in a good way ;) Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 8, 2025 Luana very kindly gifted me her book which was very nice of her. Now I’m no writer so my review won’t be as elegant as her writing is as just a forewarning 🫣 I loved the story, the characters were portrayed as actually nice and relatable humans, no need for any ‘aggressive’ personalities like other romance books seem to have these days (even though the grandfather wasn’t exactly a nice person but that’s different as it’s not the main character.) In the same boat is just a nice light easy summer read, perfect for the beach. I personally found the story to be a little predictable, but it wasn’t anything that I would deduct stars from a review for as like I said it’s a pleasurable book to read. My only gripe with it, was there was a little bit of translating to do. When you don’t have the most dextrose of hands on a kindle this can be a little tricky to do as you end up highlighting everything rather than translating it 🤣. It would have been nice if in brackets or at the bottom of the page it would have put the translation for me, but that’s just a personal gripe and again nothing I would remove a star from. The story was genuinely funny, I’m not going to give away spoilers as that would ruin it for other readers but it’s very easy to get engrossed in the story of Kayleen and Bentley and how you can feel the emotion from them pouring off the pages the further you get into the story. I was happy with the ending, I just wish the story had been a little longer but that’s the joy of a novella, it’s designed to be a short read. So to sum it all up, if you need a light easy read for the beach this summer, then give in the same boat a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
