Thank you. Knowing one's limits is indeed essential, and a kindness. I have a strong sense of 'calling', but it is towards education and scholarship in very broad terms, so I can see myself in other roles.

'Grinding' is the exact word. What I know if that, personally, I won't be able to go through many of these rounds. One will be enough for me. If I survive professionally this round of cuts, in the next cycle of the death spiral, I will take voluntary severance or redundancy.
