You really can get close to the music at Little Missenden Festival. The Gould Piano Trio's cellist, Richard Lester suggested someone in the front row might be able to scratch his nose during their lively performance of Haydn, Rebecca Clarke and Schubert last night!

Robert Schumann was born on this day in 1810. Here's a rather lovely Daguerrotype of him with Clara. His Kinderszenen form part of a concert on 5th October at Little Missenden by the Piatti Quartet @piattiquartet.bsky.social and pianist Huw Watkins.

At this year's #festival we will celebrate 500 years of #Palestrina. His exact date of birth isn't known, but he was 68 when he died in February 1594, so it was during 1525. By which time parts of Little Missenden Church were already 400 years old: mark your diary for some new-fangled #polyphony!
