Retired worrier, but still concerned. Professional grandpa, but still learning. A lapsed Methodist, even though I stopped drinking and smoking. And finally a disappointed American, but I keep trying.

The current authoritarian regime threatens democracy, harms our health and welfare, and puts the future (of the planet and all of us) at risk. In protest, we will rally, then march, wearing costumes (...

A metaphor for America? Ok with a desecrated Stars and Stripes as long as Trump's flag is waving.

Well at least we're not obsessing over Donald's friendship with a guy whose idea of a good time was raping 15 year old girls. Epstein ad infinitum.

Trump: "I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next". I'm surprised that Brendan Carr took so long to lay this one at Donald's feet. Then I remembered that the murder is MAGA's Reichstag fire.

Last I checked being a magidiot was not illegal, let alone a capital offence. His murderer deserves nothing but condemnation. His family needs our comfort.

We need names. Are they sworn federal ICE agents or rent-a-gestapo headbangers?
Genuine Question because I Do not understand… so if these men roll up in plain clothes and masks, grab a human being… even a child, and throw them in an unmarked vehicle I am just supposed to look the other way and say nothing ?? Ask Nothing ?

Hey NYT, how about for every Jake and the other guy's "Biden is old" book story you run, you give us one of this ilk. Put one of your crack journalists or Maureen, your choice, on the beat. The reader comments made my morning.

So Donald fired the Librarian of Congress, Dr Carla D Hayden, and hired Jeanine Pirro, fondly known as Judge Boxwine, to play a US attorney on TV. The irony is not lost on me.

I entered the search term "town hall" at my congressman's (Tom Kean Jr. NJ-7) website. The response was crickets.

This. Can we get the AP to add the adjective illegal to the style book whenever the words fire, firing or fired appear in a story. It bears repeating that civil servants are not at will employees and the rules were put in place for precisely this situation.
Elon Musk is neither a principle officer nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, nor an inferior officer of a statutorily created office (DOGE is a fiction). He therefore has zero authority. ALL of his actions are ILLEGAL.

The defense secretary’s instructions, which were given before President Trump’s blowup with the Ukrainian president, are apparently part of an effort to draw Russia into talks on the war.
