We're looking for research articles, experience reports, and industry insight papers. If you were involved with STC or work with similar organizations, we'd particularly like to hear from you. Queries welcome at stcspecialissue@gmail.com.

STC membership declined from over 20,000 in the early 2000s to 1,300 when it closed. It was impacted by changing professional practices, technologies, and education. But these challenges aren't unique to STC. They should concern anyone running organizations or academic programs in our field.

We explore how graduate program websites promote a instrumental value for degrees, focusing on what they can do for students after graduation rather than on the experiences during the degree. There’s room for more caring, human-centered ways to describe our programs to prospective students.

If you're so inclined, I'd be happy to be added. I don't typically post much on any social media though, so I can't be sure that will change here. Still, it's nice to see some of the community from old twitter again 😊

Appreciate the support, as always. ☺️

That said, we wrote this partially because it was fun. We intentionally chose a messy design for our research, so I don't think it was ever going to "succeed." Still, exploring why was useful. Though I also think we could go further if we expand on it.
