Don't pay SSDI & private insurers may take a whole lot of time to resume full LTD again. And, No SSDI equals no Medicare! Resuming & correcting benefits would be an uphill battle. Messing around w/ " #entitlement" benefits will impact claimants' and beneficiaries' other benefits as well. No bueno.

Let's factor something else into this equation. People on long term disability ( #LTD) insurance claims are often qualified for Social Security ( #SSDI) under the disability criteria. They & eligible dependents, get monthly benefits. The disabled also get #Medicare after 2 years.
