Absolutely and i think that's what we both thought the other was doing earlier in this thread. It's all just toys at the end of the day and you can play with them however you like.

I tend not to believe in canons and pick and choose what elements i adopt. At the same time litigating lore to justify inclusions is fun, and apart from giving me an Armada, it also helps me rename Beast Battlemaster Rhinox to Backstop and things.

Stepping back, taking the cartoon too seriously is always going to create problems. While it's better than most 80s cartoons, it's still pretty basic, and it's obviously better as an inspiration than as an artefact for analysis in itself.

I tend to think Armada has just gone unused for 40 years in much the way the Rainmakers went for about 30, probably because "robot who looks like Cyclonus and does whatever Cyclonus tells him" simply isn't that interesting a character outside a very specific context.
