#MSWMedia. #Beans. Pro-democracy, anti-MAGA. Reader, educator, cat- & animal-lover. Trying to microdose hope to survive the neXt 4 years. I live & work at a university in a small Washington state college town that I wish was closer to the Canadian border.
All the better to then disappear their children into misery & sex trafficking.

Thanks for that! My town is a tiny one, but I was proud to be part of the turnout. Small town America, Big Urban America like Chicago, we're all sick of trump, pro-democracy & don't want the Return of the King (since we get a syphilis-ridden tangerine tyrant djt and not Aragorn).

I live in tiny Pullman WA (classic university town) & I wanted to share my favorite sign at our No Kings rally. And who doesn't love a unicorn sighting?

I put out seeds today because I saw one red-breasted nuthatch. In 5 minutes, I had a pair & a black-capped chickadee. Tried to get a good photo, but they move around so fast. Unlike my blurry attempts, your video is beautiful!

My cats would fit in perfectly with Jack, an orange & white feline theme. Oscar's on my bed, his brother Levon is in the cat tree:

And Levon is also enjoying his Caturday! Though he looks disturbingly like Gene Simmons in the last photo:

It's Caturday & Oscar is in the same place as last week. But he's purring & happy, so I am, too:

And don't forget about strays, too. Milo was under my car this AM for shade. I got a cat water fountain & moved his shelter to the shadiest place I could find. I fed him there, as now my front porch (where I fed him through fall, winter & spring) gets direct AM sun. I need to retrain both of us!

I haven't, but will, thanks! Before I saw your comment, I realized that I lost track of Sandman Slim after moving from L.A. to WA in '17 & starting a free time devouring job. On Kobo (just downloaded, down w/ Amazon) I got Hollywood Dead & Across Dark Water. Is Kobo good for authors? Hope so...

Dear Mr. Scalzi, I'd love for my adorable Oscar to co-star next to your cats. Despite how cute he looks, I'm sure he's willing to protect people (Starter Villian) or start the End Times (The Other Large Thing). Live action, live cats! Unless the cats demand C.G.I. for body doubles.

Right back at ya', says Oscar, happy because he's getting a tummy rub:
July 5, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Happy Caturday for Oscar, getting a tummy rub. It's only scary when I try to move my hand away!
July 5, 2025 at 8:42 PM
It's still Caturday, and Oscar is happy, so that's my win for this weekend. First, waiting for his tummy rub, then blissed out during his tummy rub:

That's why we keep them inside! Btw, amazingly cool looking squirrel! I live in WA state, we have boring squirrels.
This is Oscar, trying to eat his toy dragon, probably because he can't get to the squirrels & magpies.

I see murder mittens in your future. But he's so adorable, you'll forgive the death blades.

I also make videos of my meezers purring loudly so that when away from home, I can listen to them while at work or feeling down or dealing with the most recent devastation coming from this regime. They get more playtime than my faves on Pandora these days.

Eek. You're right. We have foxes here (this photo is also from my kitchen window) and I've been feeding a stray cat (I named him Milo & just can'tseem to gain his trust) for months. So squirrelio is smart to be up on the fence!
June 19, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Not as funny, but from my kitchen window, I watched this little squirrel splott on top of the fence for about 5 minutes. It looked uncomfortable to me, but I guess it was happy.

Young deer surprised by squirrel (and vice versa).

I've got the day off in Washington state & plan on rewatching John Scalzi's The Other Large Thing (animated short on Love, Death + Robots) about 5 times before making BBQ. If you haven't seen this, we all deserve the laughs. As great as his LD+R's Exit Strategies!
June 19, 2025 at 5:44 PM
@scalzi.com
I watched 'The Other Large Thing' on Netflix last night and then watched it 2 more times. So funny, wonderful, and likely true. I thought Love, Death & Robots couldn't get better than 'Exit Strategies,' but happily, I was wrong. Upset your name isn't front & center in the credits here.

Well, your followers might be fans AND after Wizard Kitty's catnip cookie collection. Levon heard about them and currently is searching every grocery tote in the house!
June 7, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Caturday in style! Levon has his own Tudor mansion. Maybe he'll share with Oscar one day.
June 7, 2025 at 9:39 PM
And Caturday continues! Look what I got at the market--great deal, 3 for $9.99!
