I am not kidding when I say that I have considered having an Adulting Party where we all fill out medical advanced directives and witness each others' wills and make sure we've got beneficiaries listed on our bank accounts and the like.

I do not use AI in my peer review, but a solid article review can take 2-3 hours, especially if you are checking through references and methodology. Our system of publishing companies using volunteer unpaid scientific labor is untenable but this article points out that AI is not the solution!

The democracy that's being dismantled is our American democracy. The research and medical and educational institutions that are being destroyed are American institutions. Not uniquely American, but they're American. I'm an American, and this is my country they're breaking.
