A letter handwritten in green ink to a politician is traditionally a tip that the writer is a nut or malcontent. I don't think I'm nuts, but I am not content.

Hence my letter below to @slotkin.senate.gov (address redacted, b/c while I'm not content, again, I'm not nuts).
The text of my letter: Dear Senator Slotkin, I'm a constituent of yours, from just outside of Ann Arbor. I was saddened to see that you voted on Monday to move David Perdue's nomination forward as Ambassador to China. Setting aside Mr. Perdue's manifest lack of fitness for that post, I am dumbfounded that you seem to think that you are in some sort of equal partnership with the executive branch as people who can work together to govern. If that was ever the case, it no longer is. Your constituents are being removed from the country for the crime of taking the wrong exit on I-96. The president has issued an executive order calling for the deputization of military into spaces reserved for civilian law enforcement. All of us who live within 100 miles of the US-Canada border, meaning most of your constituents (like me and my family) are at risk of abuses from ICE every day. In this situation, any participation, collaboration, or attempts at normalization are not only dangerous; they are insulting. I hope you begin to act like you are part of the opposition to this administration. If not, I look forward to voting for your primary challenger as soon as possible, provided we still have meaningful elections at that time. Luke A. Schmerberg
