Ever so slight nitpick though 1983 technically was for the 🇲🇪 broadcaster.

I think France is winning (my mum more confidently so too). I see it to have the clearest path to winning.

The baby voice at the end almost broke me in the content of the lyrics and Louane’s life. A genius addition, I say.

I’m erring towards really liking it — we haven’t had anything this musical theatre at the contest for years. My only issue is that the package is perhaps overly performance-reliant, though RM are very good.

As a package, it certainly has potential. The song title and its repetitive nature stick in my teeth, though I was easily able to recall how that goes after the first listen. My worry is that it’s too performance-reliant (the BBC is hit and miss on staging) though RM can sing and act very well.

I have that feeling with Italy to be fair — a well constructed song, and the juries will have a copy of the lyrics translated.

Not for the first time where the winner of a national final withdrawing allows for a much better song to represent the broadcaster.

Heck, the juries had her 1st all week (rightfully so). It’s utter madness how Carlo Conti wanted to give more power to the televote when it was the juries who prevented a riot from forming in the Ariston last year (again, rightfully so).

I’m too tired to figure out how to do the night 2/3 split properly however this is what I have so far if only the ordinal rankings are used. Sacking off covers night was of no help to Giorgia either.

The televote has a lot to blame, but so does bad maths I think. The televote gets far too much power (even with 33/33/34) given how their interval percentages are combined with ordinal jury rankings. This allows for far greater televote variability than is possible with the jury rankings.
