I had the privilege to sing in a choir for an MLK Day event. The speakers addressed not only race, but also immigration, gender, and disability. Let’s remember to stand beside our vulnerable friends. They need all the support and advocacy we can give them.

I used the mandoline to slice onions for pickled onions. No blood was shed. Yes, I used the guard.

When I was a young woman struggling to decide what to make for dinner, my elderly neighbor told me to start by cooking onions and garlic. She assured me that by the time the onions and garlic had browned I would know what the meal would be. She was right.
