Our study indicates that calorie restriction can counteract the primary effect of #UMOD mutations and uncovers its potential as a valuable therapeutic option in the context of ADTKD-UMOD, and possibly other proteinopathies.

At early disease stage, calorie restriction largely reverted ADTKD-UMOD phenotype, preventing inflammation, fibrosis and kidney function decline. At advanced disease stage, it significantly delayed disease progression and worsening of kidney function.
