Great points! The earliest forms of writing were based on symbols that identified a word or concept, often imitating the basic shape of the object it was symbolizing. Cuneiform, Sanskrit, & hieroglyphics started this way, evolved, and the understanding was definitely intertwined. #edu800fall800

Gamification definitely has the potential to impact learning, motivation, and engagement, depending on the student. I think the age and maturity of the learner, as well as the content and navigation of the gamification, influence the kind and depth of learning. #edu800fall25

AI has altered our interaction with online text. Search results vary drastically depending on the algorithm being used, which is based on previous searches, purchases, and pre-identified preferences as well as location and individualized content recommendations. #Leander #edu800fall25

Education scholars recognize the vast benefits and complications of AI. There are definitely strengths in learning and analytics, allowing educators to quickly determine effective techniques and strategies, but we need to expand our understand of digital literacy and practice. #Leander #edu800fall25

I think the underlying issue is that for a while, we've valued technological literacy over interpersonal literacy. We've allowed students to learn from tech so much that they no longer functionally interact. We've taught that social media is the same as socialization. #edu800fall25

Perhaps by using the new literacy to assess the learners in real time? The sad truth is that we would need constant assessment to keep up with all the new literacies as they evolve. An alternative might be building assessments into the tech, so students learn and are assessed at once. #edu800fall25

Yes! Exploration is great, but students also need some direction to master applications. Navigating the internet is challenging, especially for young students that are still learning to read. These students need guidance and support to truly appreciate all the internet can offer. #edu800fall25 #Leu
