In a new paper w/ @clarawilkins.bsky.social & @calvinklai.bsky.social, I studied who POC & women expect will have their back after facing racism & sexism. We found 2 patterns for who’s expected to show solidarity: Black > Hispanic > Asian ≥ White & women > men.

People of Middle Eastern and North African descent are usually counted as “white” by the U.S. government, though most do not identify that way. The New York Times asked more than 5,300 people in the U.S. with MENA heritage how they describe themselves. nyti.ms/3Icx4jS
