I think Perrin was smelling the ash from Allana, and the tracks are her and Maksim after traveling the ways.

There's still a way for that to be true and for Loial to be correct without Allana being BA/DF, and we've maybe seen a hint of it before.

Also fair - I do agree those books are ones Jordan could have benefited from being a bit more ruthless in the cutting/editing process to tighten everything up.

One of the reasons (IMO) people don't care for the "slog" books is because of the time in between books. I was not happy with Winter's Heart at all when I first read it (that was also around the time I caught up to publication). On re-read though, I enjoyed 6-10 much more.

Just a note that docs can be one of the easiest ways to contribute to open source, so if the "something" is accepting pull requests, and the docs are wrong, and the solution is readily apparent since the problem was just encountered, the maintainers are often very happy to have them corrected.
