I think that’s the “how” but not the “why”. The “why” is imo just the state of the country/economy and whoever is in government automatically inherits that frustration and anger now. The line of tolerance is razor thin and they catastrophically misjudged how much political space they had.

Voyager really gets into its stride in season 7, especially the last half, and then kind of abruptly stops, which is frustrating. Whereas TNG and DS9 endings feel wrapped up and more satisfying, like they’ve said what they needed to say.

The idea that the British Parliament lacks executive power is… a take.

A lot of over-50s are reverse snowflakes now: one of the only times they encounter a view different from their own is with the grandkids at Christmas.

The real question is where do we go from here. Starmer’s ratings are bad, sure, but looking at this anyone with a chance of taking over (who is also widely known) would immediately become one of the most unpopular prime ministers ever. It’s almost meaninglessly bad!

The more times this comes up, the more I think she actually got away with something pretty bad, hacking a parliamentarian’s email!

Goes without saying but it’s absolutely outrageous that Belgium, literally the graveyard of millions of soldiers who died to ensure its independence, behaves like this

And we’re just sitting here letting it happen

I don’t think this is economic. The information space is so rotten and relentlessly negative pretty much everywhere (accelerated since Covid), political legitimacy slips through governments’ hands like sand. It’s radicalising and incredibly dangerous.

Once again, picking up conspiracy theories from the dumbest people on Earth on Twitter and calling it news.

No Stephen she’s making a point about the rise of Christendom mirroring the decline of state structures in the Western Roman Empire during Late Antiquity…Or she’s just a dumbass.

It’s really cowardly when organisations don’t just put their hands up and say “yeah sorry human error” and defend their own staff, but instead pretend they’ve got a Watergate on their hands.

As someone who lives in York, ranked bottom of the England funding table for public services when combined, but with lots of tourists, I hope it starts making a difference.

This view is becoming more and more meme-like, though, mainly being pushed through social media.
