I uploaded 1 of my papers to NotebookLM & the tool provides a "podcast" w/ 2 real-sounding "hosts". The "hosts" infer & add new language, hopefully not bias. This is an audio on my paper that analyzed the overlap of feral pig habitat & outdoor-raised pigs in CA.

Chickenpox parties in the pre-vaccine era made some sense. The infection could be much worse if you got it as an adult, and it was seemingly inevitable so best to get it out of the way.
But now we have vaccines, & measles has always been more deadly than chickenpox. "Parties" are Russian roulette.

It’s a good rule of thumb to not have any pathogen-spreading parties in the first place but really don’t do it for measles. Kids will die.

@kkjetelina.bsky.social Regarding the third peak during the 2019-20 flu season - has anyone determined if some of those were actually COVID? If the graph is based on symptoms only, could some of those have been COVID in March 2020 before testing was ramped up?

This morning Uganda announced a new Ebola outbreak.
The last time there was an Ebola outbreak in Uganda, the CDC worked with the WHO on helping end it.
But now, the CDC can’t even talk to the WHO.
I repeat, again and again, this is pure stupidity that will only hurt us.

@drwendyrocks.bsky.social hello. I live in Northern California and felt two earthquakes back to back just now 12/5 10:45am. I assumed the second was an aftershock but USGS says there were 2 earthquakes in separate counties. Are these 2 quakes on the same line? Thanks 😊
