I recently got an explore 2...from the few rides done so far the navigation has been excellent. Routing directly on the device and re-routing from a course have been fine. Battery life seems excellent. I'd recommend it.

Your point it totally valid... but there are lots of reasons that it can be helpful, mechanicals, crashes, flat phone batteries.

I use a Thousand helmet when on the Brompton.
