A decade or so before “concerns” w/ transwomen in women’s sports became central in the right wing myth of “protecting” women’s sports, the same folks pushing this myth denigrated women’s sports by saying muscular/athletic women were too “masculine” and “feminine” women were not athletic enough.
The end game of this was always "we have to end women's sports to protect cis women from trans women."
I hammer at this periodically, but the fear-mongering here isn't just about anti-trans rhetoric, but about promoting an image of cis women as delicate flowers.
