I love that NACTO’s drawing of proper sidewalk design shows driveways maintaining the pedestrian walking level (rather than sloping across the walking pathway). We don’t see enough of this pattern. It should be the required driveway treatment in every city’s engineering design standards.

The film Wicked features all sorts of transportation: boats, horses, bicycles, high-speed trains, carriages, hot air balloons. But nowhere in this American cinematic confection is the automobile. Our fantasies of college town, country village, or vibrant city are never marred by even a single car.
