Morning Womble. I just finished The Fifth Elephant in my Pratchett publishing order read through. It was my original hardback from twenty years ago, and loved going back to it. One of his best.

Now doing my usual pivot to something completely different with Leviathan Wakes.

Copied from threads, which I forgot I had: Morning Womble. I'm slowly savouring Joe Abercrombie's The Devils. It's very him, and I'm enjoying it a great deal. Particularly liking the way he drip feeds to alt-history

Does this man possess a TARDIS? Are there three of him? Did he find a heap of manuscripts buried in an abandoned log cabin? How does he write so much?

Morning Womble. I'm alternating between Bear Head by Adrian Tchaikovsky on kindle, and Lost Acre by Andrew Caldecott on tree. Really enjoying both.

Fair enough. I was mainly curious as to how mad even a fairly common sentence would look when written in Geordie.

Has anyone ever tried to represent our regional accents using diacritics?

Very different writing styles. Mieville is purple and wordy, but VanderMeer sometimes feels like he's invented his own grammar. Love them both btw.
