Seriously, my ex-wife pulled this stunt with me right after we got divorced. I needed her to sign some documentation, and she, along with her twin sister, came to my apartment.

We have 100% conceded all territory on being an international leader on just about everything. And I doubt we'll ever get that back considering our lost credibility, investment in obsolete technologies, and attacks on education. We're gonna have to accept that loss.

And, quite frankly, we deserve it. Things suck and we should definitely do something about it. But, it really isn't the end times. We just have to realize that there are permanent consequences to the last election and the last two weeks of policy shift.

Now, this doesn't mean everything is over. It means we're gonna slip a few rungs on the ladder. Other countries will take the top spot on those issues (possibly a great thing if those issues are no longer consolidated into one country).
And that's not a bad thing. We can afford this loss of face.

We have cut investments into emerging technologies, which will slow our development and economic growth. We have shifted priority to technologies that are becoming obsolete, which lessens future growth potential. Our credibility with allies is basically non-existent now. We're gonna be isolated.

The US is too big to fail simply due to inertia. We'll come out of this intact. But we've absolutely pissed all over any goodwill that was left for us internationally. We've also basically conceded any efforts to be a world leader in nearly every aspect of international relations.
