Grateful for this turkey. Today we're celebrating 29 years of being this girl's parents. I could not be more proud of the woman she's become.

Now that I'm settled in Indiana, it's time to get to work in my new studio. Tons of natural light and it has a CLOSET!! Is it weird that's my favorite part?

Here's how to tell if your stitch is just right:

✅ No top thread on the back

✅ No bobbin thread on the front

If you're seeing puckers or loopy backs, your tension might be off—but don’t start twisting dials yet! Get my best tips on the blog: www.fortheloveofthread.com/blog/solving...

Apparently it's boys' night in the studio. I came in after dinner to find William (R) and Seamus (L) just chilling. How hard is it going to be to get my seat back?

Whole lot of living, laughing, loving happening in the studio over the long weekend. I'll tackle this mess when I get home from work tonight, but I really enjoyed working on a sample for a quilt pattern I'm releasing at the end of the month. I can't wait to show it to you!

I had such a great time hosting my family last week. We did a ghost tour in Old Town, where a cat is always guarding this grave; went on an East Wing White House tour; saw the 60 Minutes stop watch; and saw this beautiful blanket. Maybe a future quilt?

There are over 10 different designs, plus I quilted her college’s motto into the corner. I used bird fabric on the backing to symbolize her leaving the nest. My sister cried the whole time I was explaining it to my niece. She absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to see her in her next life chapter.

My original quilting plan was to sew feathers into every other row on the diagonal. When that was finished, it just didn’t look complete to me. So I decided I was going to go through the unquilted rows and put in a free motion quilting design in each shape as I got to it.

last year was the first time I ever turned one of those pictures into an actual quilt.

Her high school colors are maroon and white, and yellow is in her college’s color palette. I made a bunch of half-square and quarter-square triangles and then let them get randomly pieced into what you see here.

I was so lucky to go to my niece’s high school graduation earlier this month and give her this graduation quilt. And that means I can finally share it with you!

It all started with a wall. I know we take pictures of patterns in the wild, but this restaurant wall from my daughter’s birthday dinner
