A friend shared this with me - it's a land vehicle that looks like a hull if a ship driving on a road in Florida. I checked the comments trying to figure out what this could be and people are saying a parade float for Gasparilla!

Today, the remaining parts - it's figurehead and stern castle with the royal command room - are displayed at the Maritime Museum in Stockholm. Interestingly, the stern we see today was added after the ship was damage during the war. 4/4

What surprised me was that the ship was still used afterwards! It was even used as the King's personal command ship during the Russo-Swedish war! It was later used as a barracks ship until most of it was broken up for firewood at the end of the 19th century. 3/4

Amphion was supposed to be a royal yacht to King Gustav III. It had a shallow draft and was equipped with oars for maneuverability. According to the Wikipedia article, "[s]he suffered from poor seakeeping ability and was also too heavy to row" so she got shipwrecked on her maiden voyage. 2/4

I've been reading about early naval architecture and came across Fredrik Henrik af Chapman, a Swedish shipbuilder who is considered to be the first naval architect because he used scientific methods in shipbuilding. However, one of the ships he designed, was not a very successful vessel. 1/4

On a more positive note, the Leif Erikson Viking Ship Inc still celebrate Leif Erikson day with this pretty ship - the Norseman

I looked it up and it's currently displayed on Knife River Duluth, Minnesota. The most up-to-date photo I could find was this one from 2019.

Juno is a very pretty sailing barge, designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, built by Charlie Ward and launched in 2000.

I've been seeing a log of photos of Pride of Baltimore on bluesky and it's a really pretty ship so I went to Wikipedia to read about it! Apparently, the one in commission today is the second ship by that name! The first one was in 1977 but was lost at sea in 1986 :(

I was intrigued by that last stamp (bottom right) so I looked it up.
