I acquired a Frank Sinatra CD today
Against a dark grey blanket, a CD case is lying open. On the left is the CD book, but the back pages is facing the camera. There are no words on this page, only a thick, orange, horizontal stripe across a black page. On the right is the CD. The disk is mostly orange with a small part of the bottom coloured black. The orange part of the CD has the words “GJ7702 FRANK SINATRA; 2012 Global Journey; All rights of the producer and owner of the recording reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcast and copying of this recording prohibited.” and also “COMPACT DISC DIGITAL AUDIO” In the black coloured section of the CD reads “LEGENDS ORIGINAL RECORDINGS” In the middle column, separating the two parts, the words “GLOBAL RECORDS” are arranged vertically.

#reading Slaves to Fashion by Monica Miller

An edition of The Padlock from 1823 in Dolby's British Theatre includes a diagram of the disposition of the main characters during the finale. Mungo is pictured at stage right in the pose of an iconic black dandy caricature —he wears a tuxedo and peers through a monocle, seemingly inspecting the crowd that has come to see him. The following paragraph is highlighted yellow: Mungo's journey around the Atlantic — from Africa to the West Indies, where he picked up his accent, back to England, where he learned to dress and strut, and his return to America, where blackface minstrel theater was the most popular form of entertainment in the nineteenth century —testifies to the fact that the slave trade and its creation of a black diaspora have forever conditioned the way in which black people represent themselves and are portrayed by others. Negotiating, manipulating, and performing black identity, Mungos everywhere compulsively engage the aesthetics of Euro-American group and self-representation. Traveling that circum-Atlantic route with the foppish black and the black dandy under such circumstances inaugurates the seemingly never-ending contest of characterization versus self-stylization.

Incomplete embroidery of pink roses on the corner of a handkerchief. The hemming of the hankie wasn’t done well and now parts of it have come loose Embroider of a butterfly lady on a handkerchief. The handkerchief hasn’t been fully hemmed yet and it is gingham patterned. A leg can be seen in the picture
