We just ran a successful pilot of our two-day (online) project management boot camp - which means it’s time for a celebratory drink with pup!

One thing you should know about me: squirrels are a recurring theme! Every year, I wait to serendipitously find holiday cards that include a squirrel but I was starting to get worried that I hadn’t found any yet this year…Then a wander around a few local art stores today brought success!

I loved Braiding Sweetgrass so I’m excited to be reading Robin Wall Kimmerer’s new book on reciprocity, The Serviceberry. I think in our idealizing of community, there might be yearning to be in this kind of reciprocal relationship with others we trust, participants in a gift economy of mutual care.

Yesterday was busy and a bit stressful and it was the first time in two weeks that I missed reading a chapter of “Meditations for Mortals” by Oliver Burkeman. So today I’m gonna read yesterday and today’s chapters during a morning coffee break.

Next up, Blue Summer by Jim Nichols which tells the story of Cal, a musician who’s been in jail and is sharing his coming of age story about a difficult childhood in small town Maine and what happened next. This was super vivid and very tender in places #Booksky #MaineBooks

First up was Contentment Cove by Miriam Colwell that’s set in a coastal town and explores the tensions that arise when wealthy retirees from out of town move to the area. #booksky #MaineBooks

I recently moved to Maine and thanks to a local bookstore (yay bookstores!) I’ve been exploring novels and short stories by local writers. Any additional recommendations you’d add? Or have you done something similar to connect with where you live? 🧵 #booksky #MaineBooks

Here’s one in return! There’s an informal local habit here of going to watch the full moon rise over the ocean each month.

Those windows are lovely! I went to a different church recently - one that had been converted into a country music venue (the Ryman in Nashville). And the light through the windows was also beautiful and very atmospheric.

Saturdays are often book reading day for me - and today I’m finally starting adrienne maree brown’s most recent book, Loving Corrections. It’s about how we navigate feedback and conflict in our communities, adjust our stance, and retain a sense of belonging. #booksky #BooksAboutCommunity
