And I teach 270 students, twice a day. I don’t recall doing anything extra or special for this student. Just doing the job and trying to create a positive space for all the students. So when a dad goes out of his way to find me and thank me, I feel like I must have done something right.

So dad came just to thank me for helping his son do well in my class and adjust to college and life away from home. Seems like somebody being a great dad.

Sooo. The yak wants to go on a rafting trip and takes the time to put on a life jacket. I think we should support this important message about water safety.

I do this in class a fair bit. I use it to show students that an approximation is sometimes good enough. It also allows for this:

It is a bit of an epidemic with these guys. I think my greatest distaste is for people who kind of ignore this and then complain about players being able to make money and decide where they play.
I also don’t want to think about how much students could use $1500 if we just gave the money to them.
