Loves books. Dances badly. Big fan of science, skepticism and just stuff, you know? Still hopes to grow up to be a dinosaur-riding ninja-superhero-spy.
My hand closed over the handle.

I stepped through the #doorway... and was plunged into a fairytale land of magic and mystery.

In the distance, a lion roared. A #dragon answered back.

The door shut behind me.

This stupid house.

Did none of these damn doors lead to a bathroom?

AI can do many things cheaper, faster and easier than humans. But can it walk while reading, fall into a hole, and not learn its lesson? Exactly.

Anyhoo, for a smarter take on AI and life, read Future Proof: Rules For Humans In the Age of Automation by Kevin Roose. It's interesting stuff.

It's a bittersweet vintage, with hints of days long #past.

It tastes of #elderberries and #enchantment. Of long summer days and midnight confessions.

And her.

He sighs, and raises a glass, and opens another bottle.

But it doesn't taste the same.

Without her.

There are webs all over the room, strewn like #lace.

"You like spiders, huh?"

"It's mutual."

They kiss.

A sharp pain. Numbness.

She eats him slowly. Poor suffering thing.

The leftovers go to the webs.

Sharing is caring.

It's one of her #virtues.

There was a city at the edge of eternity, where men kept endless #vigil against the dark.

The City of Waterfalls & Dreams, some called it. Of stars and stories and #sensory delights.

All gone now. Ruins.

But the waterfalls still stand.

Only the dreams are broken.

They #spent their last moments together in silence.

Never spoke of grief or blame. It wasn't their #nature.

"I love you," he whispered as the train pulled away.

Then he tucked the memories in his coat pocket, next to his unwritten goodbyes.

Time to #move on.

Happy #WorldElephantDay, folks! They're big, they're brainy, and they're way more interesting and important than you might think. So hug an elephant today, okay?

(Or maybe don't do that, and contribute in a less annoying way...that would be good too.)

They let him out early.

Just another grey man walking out of Purgatory. Beaten. Broken.

But in his cold granite heart, a #rainbow storm rages.

Heaven. Hell. It didnt matter.

He has her letter in his pocket, her lipstick stains on his soul.

It's not too late.

Never too late.

His #pungent smoky breath wakes her.

"Thought you quit," she #scowls sleepily.

"Sorry, sweetie."

Satisfied, she nods off again.

Except...

He's dead. She made sure.

She jumps up.

Nobody there. Only the wind.

And a single cigarette in the ashtray.

Still burning.

At last! One year of haunting bookstores searching for a copy. Seven years of waiting between volumes. And three decades since I first found this way-too-awesome series. But now, the final volume of Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow is in my hands. See you on the other side...

It took years for my sister and my niece to wear me down...but I finally read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. And you know what? It's really really good, even if it's not really my usual thing, and I can see why generations have loved it. Also, I am a stubborn idiot. Ai ja.

She types the words: "For Sale". Then she stops.

How to explain the #tiny notches marking growth spurts and accidents?

The #violet glimmer on the #blue waters as the sun sets?

Birthdays and barbecues and baby showers and...

Smiling, she adds one more word.

"Paradise."
