🔥Excited to introduce our #ERC #StG project ‘FiRes’, on past, present and future #fire #resilience of #Amazonian forests!🔥
In an era of increasing #fire occurrence globally, we cannot have enough research to understand its impact, especially in precious fire-‘unadapted’ ecosystems such as the Amazon
📣 The ERC Starting Grant call results are out!

Find out which early-career researchers will receive funding this year, what they will be investigating, where they will be based... plus lots of other #ERCStG facts & figures for 2025!

Nature Today | De Fictieve Aanpak Stikstof (FAS)
Het is moeilijk om het nog in neutrale termen te verwoorden, maar na een hele serie ondeugdelijke wetsvoorstellen probeert demissionair kabinet-Schoof er op de valreep nog eentje door te duwen: de spo...

We quantify, map and analyse wood density across tropical South America.

Our analysis led by Martin Sullivan refines the east-west Amazon gradient in wood density, improves it by revealing much finer variation, & extends predictions to Andean, Dry & Atlantic forests.

Are tropical forests in the Americas changing as adaptation to ongoing climate change? Yes, they are!
Are these changes enough to track their suitable climate?
Not quite! Check out our paper in @science.org www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... to see more of what our network has been working on!
Tropical forests in the Americas are changing too slowly to track climate change
Understanding the capacity of forests to adapt to climate change is of pivotal importance for conservation science, yet this is still widely unknown. This knowledge gap is particularly acute in high-b...
