@stonemaiergames.com — Here’s some thoughts from Jamey Stegmaier on increased-tax-related board games. He’s getting national, international attention about this.

Attended Origins in 2024, in Columbus last year. Eric is so awesome.

Got a chance to play La Plateau, an awesome and challenging trick-taker with a tarot deck.

Long Shot was really great.

Wyrmspan was a great ride, we had no idea who would win.

First ever play of Rolling Realms. Got slammed but it was fun.

Knizia classic Medici.

Moon Adventure was challenging but we managed to win!

And Carc was nice…

Great game day today with the group. Tulip Bubble was magnificent.

Excited to get these to the table!

Arkham Horror is not going well…

Never had a game this big and this close. Lost the “spice” tiebreaker. But such fun — Dune Imperium Uprising.

Played (and lost) Inflation, a clever Taiki Shinzawa-designed trick-taker published by @dnlnwmn.bsky.social Daniel Newman and New Mill Industries. So glad they could get this game into the hands of a U.S. audience. Get this while you still can!

Game day Sunday would not be complete without Avant Carde, published by Resonym and designed by Max Seidman — a deckbuilder like no other. And the table presence is amazing.

Lost Terraforming Mars with the colony expansion (which I had a hard time understanding). Also lost Clank (made it out of the Depths at least). Still fun!

Played this in teams of two. Twilight Struggle— high school seniors versus dads. Seniors conceded in Turn 4, anticipating U.S. victory by points. We really thought they would win by dominating Europe. (Not the final map below.)

Beautiful!

Wyrmspan is very good.
First play had fairly tight scores; no one knew who was going to win until we counted.
Definitely a different game from Wingspan, though familiar. Played fine at 5p, but not a quick game.

Eager to play this weekend…

Introduced the group to Clank, which went over well (I would have won by one point if I could have escaped from the Depths in time). No surprise here, it’s a Paul Dennen design (see Dune Imperium). Wonderful deck builder.

The latest incarnation of Dune Imperium is different but enjoyable, a new puzzle to figure out. Lost when one player came from behind with a strong play. And the sandworms are cool.

Santa’s Workshop also went over well with the group today. Published by Elf Creek Games. Plenty of depth in the Advanced Version.
