Today I learnt that Adam Bandt was not actually the first Greens MP elected to the lower house. That honour belongs to Michael Organ in 2002.

Reminds me of Howard: thrice opposition leader before finally winning an election. During this time he was censured by the House (including MPs of his own party) and took his own party backwards at the '87 election. Politics is a funny old business.
