The sad thing is they embrace being scum. Their unofficial fan slogan is “ódiame más” (hate me more).

I mean… A lineup much less potent than than the one they currently boast beat Skubal twice, Crochet, and outlasted Skenes. But if you put out into the universe that they can’t beat DeGrom, that makes it all the more likely they do. 😉

There was no way out of the Gru situation that wouldn’t have been “yucky”. Keeping him on out of loyalty or nostalgia to have him give up 6 goals every start is as bad or worse than waiving him. He simply isn’t an NHL-level goaltender right now and he’d be the first to say so.
