Something that people seem to have trouble with also: additive vs. multiplicative increases of percentage (and both combined). Path of Exile does that a lot, as does Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms with their pre-stack/post-stack system. You could argue these more math than games really.

I've caught myself surprised going back and forth between normal and exponential games recently. Where say a 100% increase can be extremely desirable in the former, and pretty much useless in the latter. Such games tend to have a lot of multiplications and powers and stuff.

Currently reading Salammbô by French author Gustave Flaubert, and I'm not liking it as much as I hoped. It is very well written and the descriptions are very vivid but the story itself doesn't fully click for me. I loved Madame Bovary from the same author.
