I was in beautiful Montreal. I've never felt so relaxed in a city.

As a Brit I visited Canada for the first time recently. I expected a chillier version of the US but I was stunned at the difference in the character, culture and general vibe. The people were kind, I felt much safer and relaxed than in NY or London. Long live Canada!

I was very bah humbug about Christmas my whole adult life until I joined a choir. Singing beautiful carols to a packed congregation at St Albans Cathedral, as we will tomorrow, fills me with such joy. It's a Christmas miracle!

In its defence it does have the wonderful Panacea Museum. It tells the story of an extraordinary Christian sect led by women.
