It’ll be interesting to see what happens in 90 days but let’s face it, this whole thing was nothing more than a distraction from what’s about to happen this week with the planned deportation raids in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, etc. Don’t take your eyes off the ball. It’s what they want!

I’m noticing a lot of people now express distrust in TikTok over this. Before today, they were winning the argument on free speech optics and censorship concerns. But after this stunt, I’m seeing an uptick in creators questioning TikTok’s agenda and even go on to suggest the ban may have some merit.

5. Trump is taking full credit for why TikTok is back online. This doesn’t do anything to help Republicans. Trump is gate-keeping the glory basking and that actually works in our favor.

4. Trump should’ve stretched this out well into the first few days or weeks into his Presidency to make it seem like he was spending countless hours to get TikTok to turn back on. This was such a joke that even the non-politically savvy creators called it out as nonsense.

3. Not enough time passing with the lights out for users to genuinely feel the ban’s effect. Some people may not have even realized TikTok was unusable at some point today. This whiplash made a lot more people see the shut down for what it was: a political and theatrical stunt.

1. Biden was still POTUS during shut-down period and clearly stated he wouldn’t enforce the ban. TikTok basically covered their ears and pretended they didn’t hear him.

2. TikTok praising Trump (not POTUS yet) a bit too much made people raise their eyebrows on the authenticity of this shut down.
