It's exploring the boundaries: hedges and edges, big skies and tree canopies, wide open fields where the insects roam....

A beautiful day for tree planting at the new Heather Wood in Hawkhurst

The plan is to rejoin 2 areas of ancient woodland and leave some pasture. Surveys have found evidence of round houses and a furnace on site and we were watched by Buzzards, Kestrel and Sky Larks

Coots on ice, wheee.

DYK? Coots have lobed toes. They spread out in water for swimming and fold on land for walking...or skating? 😎

I have been illustrating insects which rely on nettles for food & shelter. This is just a tiny selection of those species. Having a nettle patch in the corner of your garden is wonderful habitat for a whole host of creatures! #wildlifehabitat #urbannature #wildgarden

One of the highlights of studying my local Wasp Spiders (Argiope bruennichi) last year was seeing Hornets (Vespa crabro) taking them as prey. The Hornet flew low, banging webs to locate a spider. It grabbed a spider, which clung to its web, the Hornet chewed its legs off to remove it from the web.

New delivery of Lawnflowers to Kevis House Gallery in time for the Petworth Christmas Cracker this weekend. Always a picturesque town to visit, especially this time of year.

Scotney Castle is currently looking magical, all dressed for Christmas - is Petworth House decked twinkly lights too?

What we leave out

It's been over 2 years since the course at Clayhill Arts when I immersed myself in drawing outside. Slowly, quietly, I have been progressing this challenge and it seems to have found a new energy over the last couple of months

How to start?

I will be sharing my art practice from the studio to the field with adverts for exhibitions where I am showing.

These drawings are currently on show at the RWA Bristol annual open exhibition (until 5 January 2025)
