It definitely goes into that afterward, with Rick's nihilistic views, but one of the earlier things it says is that without a grasp of theoretical physics, most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head.

This is just like that "You have to be smart to understand Rick and Morty" meme. Sure, Rick's a super scientist, but they almost never explain any of the science. He just presses a button and crazy stuff happens.
