I highly recommend everyone play it, but I do think it is almost mandatory to know AW1/Control

Having said that, fuck this game for not having a physical version so they could perfect the game yet shit was (and still is a bit) riddled with game breaking bugs when it launched

It’s not the best game or even my favorite that came out this year (ToTK was easily more fun and a better game), but as an experience Alan Wake 2 is a game that is unabashedly weird and brilliant which coalesces into a phenomenal multimedia artistic game

No other game has been stuck in my head in such a way that makes me really value the artistic medium that games can be and are
Alan Wake 2 is dark, twisted, and horrifying yet surreal, charming, and goofy
It is an experience that is confident to express itself without compromise

Reminds me once when they had a big slip and slide party and I stayed as far away from possible from these girls because I didn’t want them to think I was hanging out and watching them in their swimsuits 😭

Oh there’s so many references, especially Mesa Island as a whole

I think it has that potential but it doesn’t quite come together cohesively which is the issue
I love how it all ties into The Messenger though but it doesn’t go much deeper than tbat
