Part of me wants to move out of the US and to a country that has different but hopefully at least less shitty problems, but another part of me is fully in this energy.

I read/recommend this. This fight was won with incrementalism by Black Americans over 40+ years of Antebellum America. Laws were made in courtrooms, conventions, newspapers, shipyards. White lawyers, judges, politicians, were forced to act by the insistence of Black existence. Winning is possible.
