My latest for @newschoolbeer.bsky.social - The demolished site of a former funeral home in downtown Milwaukie is getting new life as the 1847 Food Park, helmed by Portland's Migration Brewing.

Built in 1894, and another great example of an (what's now called) Accessory Commercial Unit (ACU), or a "small, detached or attached commercial space on a residential property, designed to support small, local businesses."

A++ for the signage too!

Built in 1893 (or 1900, depending on the source); a rare Victorian in SE Portland. Now a triplex. #missingmiddle

Popped in to pFriem Brewery's new location in downtown Milwaukie over the weekend.

What a fantastic transformation of the former city hall into a place for the community. It's only been open for a few days but it's already having an impact on the energy level on Main Street.

Hey bridge nerds (looks in mirror), a great resource for all things...bridges.

Former fire station (built in the 30s) then city hall & now the new @pfriembeer.bsky.social coming soon to downtown Milwaukie. #adaptivereuse for the win.

Milwaukie's Pietro’s is moving to the former McGrath’s Fish House on 224 and the building is being demolished. If I’m reading the permit right, it looks like the sign is being relocated to the new space. Good news.

Thanks to @electric.spaghetti.neon for the video!

I've got a soft spot for these types of buildings - they work hard, won't win any design awards & they keep on keeping on. Located in Portland's Central Eastside, originally built in 1908 (and definitely updated in the 60s!).

I feel shame for never stepping foot into the Kenton Club ... until last night.

Here's a great piece from @orartswatch.org a few year's back on its role in the 1970s roller derby movie Kansas City Bomber:

I love this Thanksgiving ad from 1922 from the Klamath Falls Herald. Long-form, the language is still (kind of) very modern and the retailer even has a slogan: "I ain't mad at nobody!"

Here's what happened to the store's location: www.heraldandnews.com/news/local_n...
