Well, all bird photography starts with being where birds are. In my case my wife taught people to train horses near a bird sanctuary. I photographed lessons and when I had opportunity I could scan the sky and photograph birds. I cannot claim great skill, it was a good camera with fast glass.

The distraction is the purpose.

The night herons are a favorite for us too. When we went into Children’s early, they would be hanging out on a pond in city park before everyone and their goose came out.
