I know of at least two people who have no intention of working but have enough income to pay rent, bring up kids, own and drive a car, go out at weekends, have their nails done etc. They are both perfectly happy in their lives and have no wish to find a job.

I admit that the benefits system is a bit of a mystery to me. But, while there is no doubt that those losing their jobs or being genuinely ill, can suffer financially, there are those with no intentions of working who seem to manage to pull in enough universal benefit for a reasonable lifestyle.
