As stated previously, the existing system was a failed experiment because developers could just lie and there was no punishment for doing so.

The smallest, smallest silver lining is now you won't have game defenders saying, "Well, Steam didn't say it has AI so it doesn't" when AI is spotted.

While better than nothing, the disclosure system has been kind of a failed experiment because everyone has different definitions for AI. i.e. Vocaloids are categorized as such. Things like Speedtree is not GenAI despite armchair devs thinking it is. Buzzword admin tools.

Along with devs just lying.
